In November we were delighted to welcome Maritime Ambassador Gordon Foot into College. 

Gordon, whose own children attended Ivybridge Community College, talked to a group of students about Maritime careers and his pathway into the Navy, Merchant Navy, and his current role as an Offshore Consultant, which involves securing his own contracts with employers and worldwide travel opportunities.    

Gordon also spoke about some of the current issues that he deals with in his role, such as the importance of adhering to environmental impact regulations when setting up wind farms. 

Gordon also attended the Girls in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Greenpower Club session after school to talk to the team about his life in engineering, the wide variety of employment opportunities currently available, and the importance of supporting women in Maritime careers.
