Following their intense in-college training day back in May, thirty of our incredible Year 10 Silver Duke of Edinburgh's Award participants took on the rugged terrain of Dartmoor this past weekend. Here is how their adventure went down: Friday 5th: The journey kicked off with an overnight camp near South Brent, setting up tents and prepping for the miles ahead. Saturday 6th: Facing a very wet and windy Dartmoor day, the teams navigated their way via Shipley Bridge to their second overnight camp at Holne. True resilience on display! Sunday 7th: The final push! The teams pushed through to Coombestone Tor above Dartmeet, before successfully smashing their final destination in Princetown. Huge congratulations to all 30 students for showing amazing teamwork, navigation skills, and serious grit through some classic British weather! What's next? The hard work doesn't stop here. The teams are already diving into planning their final Qualifying (Assessed) Expedition routes. They will be taking on the moors for real this weekend! #DofE #SilverDofE #Dartmoor #OutdoorAdventure
We are incredibly excited to welcome Mr Kieran Botha as the new Head of Rugby at Ivybridge Community College. As we look ahead, we are excited about the opportunities that lie before us. Kieran is eager to become part of the Ivybridge community and is looking forward to building strong relationships with students, staff, parents/carers and the wider local rugby network. Together, we will continue to build upon the College's proud rugby tradition, create memorable experiences for our players and provide outstanding opportunities for all students involved in the game. Please join us in giving Kieran a huge welcome! We cannot wait to see him on the touchline soon. #IvybridgeCommunityCollege #HeadOfRugby #WelcomeKieran #RugbyCoach #SchoolRugby #RugbyLife #YouthRugby #NewChapter #IvybridgeSport

A massive congratulations to our Greenpower Racing Team, who have had great results at their latest events. The Ivybridge Community College team were officially recognised as the Best Presented Team and won the Best Portfolio Award! Best Presented Team is awarded for 'The best overall appearance, including uniformity of team wear, teamwork, presentation of the car and for good sporting behaviour'. The judges were blown away, specifically commenting on how professional, respectful, and resilient our students were under pressure. We couldn't be prouder of how our ambassadors represented Ivybridge Community College! A huge thank you to our sponsors! Our History and Politics students recently headed to the Historical Association Plymouth Branch for an eye-opening guest lecture that felt more like a spy thriller than a standard classroom session! Spies and British Prime Ministers Students were privileged to hear from Professor Richard Aldrich of the University of Warwick, who delivered a fascinating deep dive into the evolving relationship between the UK's leaders and the secret service. This experience was a fantastic opportunity for our Politics students to broaden their grasp of British governance and for our Historians to widen their contextual knowledge. Beyond the subject matter, attending a lecture by a leading academic provides our students with a real taste of Higher Education, preparing them for what the study of History or Politics looks like at a university level. A huge thank you to Professor Aldrich and the Historical Association for such an inspiring afternoon! #IvybridgeCommunityCollege #History #Politics #UniversityOfWarwick #HistoricalAssociation #HigherEducation #BritishPolitics #Espionage #StudentEnrichment #PlymouthUniversity
