Recently, some members of our Girls in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Greenpower Club were given the opportunity of a tour of the electrical engineering research and development site of our School Employer Partners Plessey in Roborough.
The visit commenced with a presentation on Plessey’s current cutting edge electrical engineering projects, applications and entry level career opportunities.
After a fascinating site tour, which included certain areas of the fabrication plant, our students then met graduate Nadia, who talked about her pathway from A Levels to studying Natural Sciences at Cambridge University, and explained why she was drawn to working for Plessey because of the opportunity to carry out multidisciplinary work with real world applications.
Students then met Owen, a current engineering Apprentice, who talked about his apprenticeship pathway into Plessey after A Levels, and his current role within the company which involves project planning, Computer-Aided Design and maintenance.
Ms Hughes and Mr Skorka-Brown would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the team at our School Employer Partners Plessey, who made the Greenpower girls feel so welcome on the day.
