Girls prove they have the Engineering Skills
In an event designed to promote and encourage our Ivybridge Community College Girls in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), a group of Year 9 and 10 girls had the opportunity to take part in a Windfarm Challenge Activity with two Engineers, Gemma Maynard and Sean Collier, from AECOM.

At the start of the session, the girls were given an overview of the current UK FLOW (Floating Offshore Wind) sector, and the future potential for development that this sector currently has in the South West.
The girls then had the opportunity to develop their own key skills for Engineering...

...by competing in a timed windfarm building challenge, where they were split into teams, appointed a team Project Manager, and had to construct different types of windfarm models.

...who became the first AECOM school team to complete the Advanced Barge Foundation Windfarm!!
We also welcomed the AECOM team again to our College for the Ivybridge Community College Careers Fair the following month.
