Jobs for the Girls, not just the Boys
In June, a group of Year 9 and 10 girls and Physics Teacher Mr Jewell took part in a special school careers event organised by the YMCA at the Tamar Bridge.
This event was organised to celebrate International Womens Day in Engineering.
The afternoon’s activities included a guided tour of the Tamar Bridge with a Heritage Officer, where students learnt about the history of the bridge and got an insight into the engineering complexities involved in the construction.
They also went to the Visitor Centre to listen to a talk on Careers at Babcock from an inspiring Higher Apprentice Engineer, who was also a past student from Ivybridge Community College.
