Sports Report - 14/06/2024 and 21/06/2024
Community Competition, Major Prizes and a TV Appearance!
The past two weeks have seen our students take part in a variety of sporting activities once again, and have recorded some more great victories as well as noteworthy places on National Teams.

Students have taken on a wide variety of challenges including Boxing, Cricket, Rugby, Horse-Riding and Running.

We start off with huge congratulations to our Boys Under 13 Cricket team, who came through the rounds at Exeter University at the Devon Softball Finals and won the tournament, making them the Regional Champions!

Meanwhile, we also wish to congratulate Year 8’s Zac Eccles (pictured Top Right) who took on an altogether different challenge, taking part in the London Alliance Amateur Boxing competition, defeating his opponents in the boxing ring and becoming a National Champion!

It was also great to see some of our sports stars (past and present) stepping up to key roles for their clubs and country and were delighted to see former student Ben Spencer appear on television at Twickenham, playing in the Rugby Premiership Final as a member of the Bath Rugby team.
Well done to Ben on his valiant performance and important contribution to his team.

Meanwhile, current student Freya Weeks (Pictured Top, Left) was given the privilege of receiving a further England cap for her work as Goalkeeper for the Girls Under 15 team.

Meanwhile some of our sports stars having been taking part in local activities in the name of charity, and these include Bethany and Charlotte (in Year 10) who walked an entire Half Marathon across the Coast of Devon in aid of the Alzheimer’s Charity.

We would also like to congratulate Year 8’s Grace Gokhale (Pictured Top, Middle) who took part in a particularly rainy event at the Junior Fell Running Champions over in Rossendale (North East).

Caiden (Bottom Picture), Grace, Tom (Bottom Picture) and Ava have successfully completed their ‘Horse Care and Stable Management Course’ and achieved their completion certificates, whilst Maddie and Carter have also achieved their Level One and Two British Horse Society Riding Certificates.

And finally, an Ivybridge sports report would not be the same without a mention of Rugby and we are delighted to learn that our Girls Rugby Team grabbed a silver medal position recently at the Touch2Twickenham Rugby Tournament.
