This period has seen more endeavours, adventures and achievements by our sports students, mainly in the College staples of…
Football |
Rugby |
Netball |
...but also in other activities including…
Running |
Equestrian |
Orienteering |
--------
We start on the Equestrian course and would like to congratulate Year 10 student Chloe (pictured) following her recent participation in her National Schools Equestrian Association Eventers Challenge Qualifier.
Chloe had a great day, taking First Place position for her category and following her success, has now qualified for Championships taking place in Haywoods Heath next year.
--------
Meanwhile, our Year 7s have been getting in the festive spirit, taking part in a seasonal Santa Run (pictured) as part of their PE lessons.
Students donned their Christmas kit and took part in this charitable activity, raising a fantastic £400 for good causes.
Money raised will be donated to Jeremiah’s Journey (a Plymouth based, bereavement support Charity) as well as to the Build our Fitness fund, raising money for College sports equipment.
--------
We would also like to mention our Year 7 Netball Team, who played a match against an independent school in Plymouth recently.
--------
Meanwhile students on the BTEC Protective Services course, have been getting out and about and stretching their legs with some orienteering activities recently.
--------
On the football field, many of our teams have been out in force, including our Year 7 Elite Team (pictured) winning a contest with a team based in Cullompton by a very impressive 6 goals to 0.
Our Senior Girls Team matched this when they played a team from a College in Torbay, also winning 6-0.
Our commiserations to our Year 7 Girls Team who came up short against a Team based in Plymouth, however, as ever, we thank them for representing the College with pride and congratulate our Plympton opponents on their win.
In addition, our Year 8 A and B Teams participated in matches against teams from schools in Somerset and Gloucestershire, whilst our Year 7 Girls team played another match against a team from a School in Plymouth.
Our Senior Elite Football team also played a game against a team from Torbay.
Finally, we would also like to congratulate our Year 11 Elite Football Team who took part in a WeST (Westcountry Schools Trust) derby and won their match by an incredible 8 gaols to nil.
--------
And finally, out on the rugby field our Elite Teams were out in action.
Our Year 9 Elite Team were victorious over a Team from Cornwall winning by 20 points to 14, whilst our Year 11 Elite Team were involved in a tighter affair as they took on an Independent School from Plymouth, however still recorded victory by a score line of 26 points to 22.
Our Year 7 Elite Team were also in action against an independent school (this time in Tiverton), recording another win, whilst our Year 9 Elite Team were also involved in a match featuring Torbay opponents, and took a comprehensive victory by 48 points to 15!
--------
Once again, our students have taken part in sporting activities covering a variety of disciplines and recording some more impressive results.
No doubt they’ll still be putting in a little bit of training over the Christmas holiday period, but we wish them a good, well-earned break as well.
