The first couple of weeks of the new academic year have seen a strong start for the College's cohorts and budding sports stars to early activities and competitions, on the back of some notable achievements during the Summer break.

Students celebrated some more amazing achievements as well as some more dominant results in early sports fixtures.

--------

We would first like to congratulate our various tutor groups from last year who were the top performers during sports day.

Our podium places were won by...

Year 7

Silver: 07PPT

Gold: 07REE

Bronze: 07WTE

Year 8

Silver: 08MTN

Gold: 08DNT

Bronze: 08FSN

Year 9

Silver: 09BRY

Gold: 09MTC

Bronze: 09HSK

Well done to all the students who took part!

--------

Over the break, we were very impressed with Year 8 student Luke Harper (pictured), who took part in a rather muddy Race for Life event.

It was a great effort by Luke, who exceeded his fundraising target for Cancer Research UK by over 500%.

A very well done to Luke.

--------

Meanwhile, out on the water, another student from Year 8, Eva Isserlis (pictured), was taking part in an event part of the Surfing England (National) series over the break.

Our star surfer faced some challenging conditions, however, finished in a very respectable fourth place, particularly impressive, given the difficult conditions and it must also be remembered that the England No1 and Welsh No1 locked out the top two positions.

A very well done to Eva on her efforts.

--------

Meanwhile, out on the Rugby Field, our various teams recorded some impressive early victories.

On a recent visit to a boarding school in Bristol, our Under 14 Team won a close game by 29 points to 21.

A very well done to our Under 16 Team, who fell short in their match, but we thank them for representing the College with pride and we congratulate our opponents on their win.

The Year 7 and 8 teams took a trip to a boarding school in Somerset, with the Year 8 A and B Teams winning their matches, whilst the Year 7 A and B Teams showed some early promise and potential in drawing both theirs.

In the meantime, there was no time to lose for our Senior Elite Rugby Team as they were invited to take on a school in Tiverton in Round 1 of the National Cup.

The team started as they mean to continue, and kicked their campaign off to a winning start with a superb victory of 24 points to five.

Finally, the College would like to express their thanks to all the staff who volunteered to help and coach during some of the Summer Sports camps during the break.

--------

What a great start to the 2024/5 year and we are confident of more amazing achievements soon.
