Sports Report 31/01/2025, 07/02/2025 and 14/02/2025

Another Knockout Win,
a Fearless Swim
and a Fond Farewell!

Our sporting students have been involved in another amazing mix of activities, both in individual disciplines as well as team contests and have secured some good results, first place triumphs as well as reaching some milestones.

--------

We start off this report in the swimming pool and would like to congratulate Year 8 student James (pictured) following his adventures at the Devon County Swimming Championships.

James got his fins on, taking part in the 1500 metre contest and winning first place and a Gold Medal.

--------

He’s not the only one on top of the podium though, as Zac (Year 9) (pictured) also fought his way to victory in the Boxing ring.

Zac participated in the National Schools Boxing Championship and came out on top, playing through the whole competition and winning the Final, taking first place for his category in the process.

--------

Meanwhile, it was a team effort for our Badminton players, as several of them represented the College at the Devon National Schools Championships for this activity.

A very well done to our Year 10 and Year 11 Boys Team (pictured) who battled their way to Bronze Medal position.

Meanwhile, our Year 8 and Year 9 Boys (pictured) were also celebrating, having participated in the same event and securing the Silver Medal position!

Well done to all teams involved.

--------

Staying indoors and moving to a racquet sport of a different kind, some of our Year 7 sports stars competed recently in the Devon Schools Individual Table Tennis Championships.

--------

Back out on the football field, we would also like to thank and acknowledge our Year 9 Elite Football B Team who represented the College against a Team from a school in Reading.

Our Year 11 Elite Team were also out in force participating in a National Cup competition against a team from a school in Bournemouth.

--------

And last but not least, it wasn’t just the boys, but the girls on the Rugby field were also out in force, with the Senior Girls Rugby Team representing the College and taking on a Team from a school in Tiverton.

Our Boys Senior Elite Squad, meanwhile, were involved in a tight contest against their Exeter opponents, but still managed to squeeze past the finish line in first place with a score of 36 to 31.

Once again, we were pleased to see teams continue to take part in tournaments and would like to say well done to our Year 11 Boys Rugby Team who gave the College another Quarter Final to its records, but could not push any further on this occasion.

Well done for representing the College as usual though.

And finally, we end this report on a sad note, as we bid farewell to our Boys Year 13 Senior Elite Rugby Team who recently played their last rugby game for the College.

Thank you for representing us and we wish you all the very best with your future sporting endeavours and other activities.

--------

Another packed sporting period featuring top three finishes and a tight contest as well and we look forward to reporting more of our sporting successes at a later date.
