For the Ivybridge Community College Leavers of 2020, their Leavers Day was somewhat different to that of previous years.  Having received the news from the Government that the College was to close two days previously, it took some fast thinking, organising and running around to provide a special and fitting Leavers Day to mark the end of our students' time at Ivybridge.  

Following their final mock exam, the Year 11 students said goodbye and thank you to the many teachers who they have known so well over the course of their time at the College.  Following this, the entire Year Group gathered on the playground to take photographs, sign shirts and enjoy each other’s company; with many of the staff joining in and wishing their students well for the future. 

The final part of the day included a buffet in the Dining Hall for all students and an assembly led by Mr Brown, with special appearances from the tutor team, Pastoral Leader Mr Anniss, Mr Clift, and the brilliant staff band; Panic! Buy.  Even Mr Waldron, Head of Year for three years made an appearance via video all the way from New Zealand. 

Whilst it was an emotional day with some sadness, it was also a happy one where we were able to celebrate this Year Group.  We are proud to have provided this exceptional group of Ivybridge students the Leavers Day that they deserved and hope it provides a good memory of their time at the College for many years to come.

In Year 13, the students gathered together in the Sixth Form common room to celebrate their time at Ivybridge and to say their goodbyes. Mrs Lilley addressed the cohort and showed a motivational video to keep everyone's spirits up in uncertain times. Dr Kershaw also appeared on a video link, which everyone appreciated. Pizza was on offer, which proved incredibly popular; the food 'disappeared' within minutes! Music was provided by Ms Daniel with a particular bias towards Vampire Weekend's latest album! Key members of the Sixth Form team were thanked including, Mrs Street, Mrs Terry and Mrs Nichols, for their ongoing commitment and hard work. Although a prom is looking very unlikely for June, an idea to meet up in late summer/early September was proposed, to say goodbye properly and to wish everyone all the best.
