Sports Report - 20/09/2024 and 27/09/2024

On Land, Grit, Gravel, Grass,
Water and Air

During the fortnight of this article, the College has learnt about some more amazing achievements and activities by our budding sports stars, indoors, outdoors, up in the air, in the water and on the field.

--------

We would first like to say well done to James (Year 10), Oscar (Year 9) and Jacob (Year 8) who participated in a recent Martial Arts competition as well as to congratulate Year 8 student Alicia (pictured) and Sixth Form student Oliver (pictured) who also took part and took First Prize for their contests.

--------

Meanwhile, Year 8 student Willow was also finding success on two wheels, having completed and winning the final race of the season in the Orbea Southern Enduro cycling series.

--------

Up in the air and then down again, another Sixth Form Student Oliver was making a splash in Plymouth, participating in a Junior High Diving camp, which was being organised by a World Champion Diver.

--------

Our netball season is also up and running with our students taking on teams from Torbay and Plymouth including our Year 8 and Under 14 Teams.

Meanwhile, a huge 'congratulations' to our Senior Elite Team who came out on top in their match against their Torquay opponents by an impressive victory score line of 25 – 32.

--------

Meanwhile, our Year 11 Elite Football Team also had a fixture with the same Torquay school and also claimed a wonderful win by five goals to one.

Some of our eager female footballers were called up for their debut match with our Under 14 Girls Team who played a game against a Teignbridge college.

Our Year 7 and 8 Elite Teams had mixed fortunes against a Somerset School.

Our Year 8b Team came up short against their opponents by three goals to one, although we thank them for representing the College valiantly and congratulate our opponents on their win.

Our Year 7b Team, meanwhile, had a better day taking a win in a high-scoring match by six goals to four.

Meanwhile, we would also like to make a special mention to our Year 9 student Alfie (pictured), who was recently invited to participate in an England National Team, Under 15s Emerging Talent event.

--------

And of course, our Rugby Senior Elite Team was out in force and on the road at Exeter and Truro with two close matches.

Despite being the visitors, our Senior Elite Team were victorious against our Exeter opponents by 22 points to 30, whilst during their outing to Cornwall, they also came out on top with a score line of 25 to 32 points.

--------

Another comprehensive list of achievements and activities by our budding sports stars and we cannot wait to report of more sporting successes to you soon.
