Taking place just before the Christmas break, Festive week aimed to bring together students and staff from across the College Community to celebrate the joy of Christmas.

Many of the events also gave participants the opportunity to raise funds for a variety of causes, including MIND, Surfers against Sewage as well as the College’s Build Our Fitness Community Project (with the aims of raising money towards our sports facilities).

As well as donning a festive cardigan for Christmas Jumper day (in aid of Save the Children), students also had the opportunity to dress up for a Festive Photoshoot.

Meanwhile, there were also opportunities to get creative and participate in craft activities including a Christmas Card Workshop as well as the famous gingerbread decorating competition.  

For those who prefer getting active, there were a variety of festive sports festivals in Badminton, Gymnastics, Football, Rowing and Rugby, but a special mention must be given to our Year 7 group, who took on the Santa Fun Run, raising £386 for Children’s Hospice South West.

Meanwhile, regular visitors to the Library were also celebrating, having raised £87 from a Charity Raffle in aid of Book Trust – a Children’s Reading Charity – giving more vulnerable children a chance to receive a gift this Christmas, which they may not otherwise have got.

And of course, no celebration would be complete without some music and many had the opportunity to sing with gusto with some Christmas Karaoke sessions across the week.

Meanwhile, performing arts students saw in the festive season, with a variety of poignant and upbeat tunes as part of the College Christmas Carol concert.

Our budding performers also took their talents into the community with some special ‘Carols on Tour’ concerts entertaining residents and visitors of a local community centre and a residential home.

Commenting on the performance, one of the teachers praised the group, “The students were amazing and such a credit to the school.

“So many members of the public complimented their performances (even offering to give donations!)…

“So pleased the students were able to make so many people smile this morning!”
