Students Recognised for Promoting Character Virtues
Ivybridge Community College students from Years 7-13, who have completed commendable work for charity since January last year, were given commendation certificates for their efforts and were encouraged to continue their wonderful work.
Charitable work included volunteering for local businesses and youth groups, taking part in fundraising events and individual acts of kindness, for example, Maya in Year 7 who, “donated my hair to the Little Princess Trust charity because I wanted to help little girls with cancer.” As well as donating her hair, Maya raised £412 - an amazing achievement!
During the last term, students at the College completed many charitable acts including: Tutor Group Random Acts of Kindness, Christmas Book Donations, Ivybridge Foodbank collections, and we will continue to support the Mind and Dartmoor Zoo charities through the collection of plastic tubs over the festive period and right up to the end of February 2022.
Amy Pearce, Assistant Principal said, “As part of an assembly at Christmastime students across the College shared their charitable work this year to date with me. I feel so privileged to have read the incredible work they undertook in 2021. Our Charity Ambassadors are a credit to the College.”
