Advice for Careers and Employability

We were delighted to receive a recent visit from our College Enterprise Adviser, Daffne Zamudio.

Please note: if you are viewing this page on a mobile phone, you may need to view in Landscape in order to view all of the content.

Daffne, who works as a Social Value Manager at Willmott Dixon, came into College to connect with our Year 9 and 10 students and deliver a Careers and Employability Skills Workshop.

As well as talking about the value that employers place on employability skills, students then put their own skills into practice and worked in teams to undertake a timed Architectural Challenge.

Following the exercise, students then discussed how the challenge went, including;

  • What went well?
  • What they would do differently next time?
  • What employability skills they used?

“I really enjoyed my visit to Ivybridge Community College as part of my current role as College Enterprise Advisor.

"I very much look forward to us working together at future school events.” Daffne said, following the visit.

As well as talking to students about her own career pathway, Daffne spoke about the wider career opportunities on offer at Willmott Dixon, including degree apprenticeships, and stressed to students the importance of undertaking work experience placements and continuing to explore their interests and passions as they consider their next steps.
