Green Army Recruits College Students and England Opportunity for Ben

Ivybridge Community College would like to congratulate some of their students (past and present) for their recent achievements with their National and Local Sports teams.

Year 11 student Georgie Knott has been signed up by the Plymouth Argyle Women’s team.

A graduate from the Plymouth Argle pathway, Miss Knott said she was very ‘excited’ to be part of the first team and will be playing in a midfield role.

In her short time at the club, Georgie has already been part of a National League match that has seen Argyle beat a London team by 5 goals to 1, but she has also received the ‘Player of the Match’ award recently.

We would also like to acknowledge former student Ben Spencer, whom we are delighted to report, had been called up for the England Rugby, Six Nations training squad.

Ben is currently the Captain of Bath Rugby team, and at the time of writing has already scored 55 points for his club across the season (including 5 tries and 9 conversions).

We are delighted that Ben was given the opportunity to play for his country and earn his fith England Cap against Scotland at the Six Nations Tournament at Murrayfield recently.  We hope he gets another opportunity to play for England soon.

Meanwhile, we would also like to congratulate former student Caleb Roberts who was called up for the Plymouth Argyle Starting Squad for their FA Cup match against Leeds United.

Despite falling behind, Argyle fought back to level the scores and Caleb was part of the team that forced a famous Replay at Home Park.

Finally, we would also like to acknowledge Year 11’s Tegan Finn who was invited to train with the Plymouth Argle first team earlier this month - We hope this may be just the start of an exciting journey!

A very many congratulations to all students on their achievements.
