The students Mailli Allen-Waldron, Tansy Allen-Waldron, Greg Thomas and Ace Elvins participated at the ‘Music for Youth’ Proms representing the Devon and Torbay Music Education Hub.

Their performance included a Premiere of a new work by Composer Jack Pepper, part of a musical he wrote in tribute to his music teacher.

Speaking on behalf of the Education Hub, Lewis Gibbs said, “All of the young musicians involved performed brilliantly and behaved with the utmost professionalism throughout what was undoubtedly a very long day.

“By participating in this event they have experienced the thrill of performing in one of the world’s great concert venues; premiered a brand new composition by a leading composer; worked with professional musicians and technicians as part of a high profile production…and supported each other through the day, demonstrating empathy, team work and resilience.”

Mailli and Tansy have shown great promise as musicians having previously picked up top prizes for their solo performances at the Saltash Music Festival.

Along with Greg, they have already performed to students this year as part of the College Remembrance Day Ceremony.

Jack Pepper is one of the youngest commissioned composers and has written works for the Royal Opera House, Classic FM, the Royal Philharmonic Society, the London Philharmonic Orchestra and his music has also been broadcast on Classic FM and the BBC.
