Remembrance Day
Ivybridge Community College were proud to support Remembrance Day on Thursday, 11 November, with a visit to the war memorial in Ivybridge.
Archie, in Year 7 and sisters Sophie, in Year 10 and Lucy, in Year 7, were invited to participate in the laying of the wreath, representing the whole College, staff and governors. This act was in honour and respect of all who have served this country, and to those who still continue to do so.
The College supported Remembrance Day with a two minutes silence held in classrooms, with a reading from For the Fallen, by Dan Hayward, Head of History, and the Last Post played by Harry, in Year 10. Students and staff across the College paid their respects, and have engaged with assemblies and tutorial sessions focused on Remembrance, to support our Character Virtue focus of Respect.
“We felt very proud when laying the wreath on behalf of the College because it reflected the years our dad has served for our country, and to remember all who have died in the line of duty.” Sophie and Lucy.
Staff and students also represented the College for the Ivybridge Town Remembrance Day Service which was held on Sunday, 14 November, and the College was extremely proud that Mailli, in Year 9, played the Last Post at this ceremony.
