We were delighted that during this summer’s activities we were contacted by                    Hannah Skelley, Services Manager at Tesco Ivybridge Lee Mill Extra, who offered the participating children fruit and water as part of their FareShare campaign supporting local community groups.  The lucky recipients of the donations included children attending one of the full day Plymouth Argyle sessions.  Charlie Hardcastle, Regional Participation Manager for the Argyle Community Trust explained that they run community based activities every half-term at the College with sessions covering drills, small sided games and competitions. 

The donation from Tesco follows a recent three-week campaign whereby Tesco sold enough fruit and vegetables to donate up to three million meals to its charity partner FareShare to redistribute to charities and local community groups supporting children.

Tesco Services Manager, Hannah, said, “I saw this as a fantastic opportunity to reach out to local groups and clubs running throughout the summer holidays, and got in touch with the Holiday Activity Programme organiser at Ivybridge Community College, Chris Tregidgo, subsequently organising a donation of 50 bottles of water and 50 pieces of fruit for the children attending the Plymouth Argyle Football training at the College in August, which was gratefully received.”

Chris said, “The College is very grateful to Tesco for supporting our Holiday Activity Programme.  Having worked hard throughout the Plymouth Argyle training session, the fruit and water was very much appreciated at lunchtime by the children.”

The wide range of sporting and arts based sessions on offer include: Bikeabililty Learn to ride, Bikeabililty Level 2, Athletics, Badminton, New Age Kurling, Ultimate Frisbee, Rounder’s, Dodgeball, Tennis, Rock-it-ball, Indoor Archery, Table Tennis, Junior Gym, Plymouth Argyle Girls Only Road Show and Plymouth Argyle Strikers and Goal Keepers Courses.  For future activities please visit the College’s website via this link.
