Year 9 Vaccinations - reply by Sunday, 23 February
Vaccination against Diphtheria, Tetanus, Polio and Meningitis ACWY in Year 9
This letter is to advise you that the Immunisation Team will be visiting all secondary schools in Devon (in the Spring/Summer term) to vaccinate children against Diphtheria, Tetanus, Polio and Meningitis ACWY as part of the National Childhood Immunisation Programme.
This year we plan to vaccinate all Year 9 pupils (male and female) born between 1st September 2005 and 31st August 2006.
We would kindly request that parents use the secure online link to register or decline their child for these important vaccinations. We require a response from all parents, even those declining the vaccinations, so that we do not contact them unnecessarily.
This process is quick and easy for parents to use and reduces the administrative burden on schools. In the attached letter, parents have been provided with the link to use for this school. On the rare occasion where parents do not have electronic access within the family (via tablet, computer or mobile phone) we would suggest that they contact us, and we can complete the electronic form with them over the telephone.
We require all electronic forms to be completed by 23rd February to allow time for clinical triage and administrative processing. Whilst we can accept consents up until 2 weeks before the scheduled vaccination date, late consents make it challenging to plan sessions effectively and communicate in a timely manner with schools regarding the pupils to be seen.
We are happy to answer any queries that you may have and can be contacted by telephone on: 0300 247 0082 or email: VCL.ImmunisationPHNsecondary@nhs.net
Please be reassured that all our staff have enhanced DBS disclosures and are not able to work without this. This includes our highly trained team of registered nurses, who look forward to visiting your school in the coming term.
I have attached a copy of our DBS Letter for reference and would like to draw your attention particularly to the final paragraph regarding the use of electronic devices.
Yours sincerely,Devon Immunisation Team, Virgin Care.
