Spotlight on College Induction Week
On Tuesday, 7 September Ivybridge Community College was delighted to welcome the team from BBC Spotlight to witness the return of our students to the College as they embarked on their Induction Week.
They took a tour of our Lateral Flow Testing Facility and spoke to staff and students about the measures in place to ensure a safe and undisrupted return for all. They were also able to see our new Year 7 cohort gathering on the Track for their registration and commented on their smart, professional appearance as well as the positivity and enthusiasm with which they were approaching the day.
Charlotte Hanton, Assistant Principal and Tom Brown, College Director for Year 10, were involved in the interviews during the day. Charlotte commented that, “The first day for Year 7 is always exciting, but to have the opportunity for students to share their experiences was wonderful. The new Year 7 cohort have faced challenges in their transition but have overcome these with ease, and we are so proud of how well they have started their journey at Ivybridge Community College.”
Year 7 students Nick, Oscar, Lucy and Esme and Year 10 student mentors Mia, Thomas, Jasmine and Arabella were also interviewed for the BBC Spotlight News programme and we are extremely proud of how well they engaged with the interviewer's questions and gave very interesting and informative answers.
Tom added, “We are incredibly proud of how the students articulated their return to College on BBC Spotlight. Their interview represented the feelings of all of the students and staff who are delighted to be back, and so proud of how the College has managed their response to the pandemic.”
