College Celebrates Girls’ Nationwide Football Initiative
Ivybridge Community College is delighted to announce that, together with the Football Association (FA) and Youth Sport Trust (YST), they have joined in a nationwide initiative to give every girl access to football, and therefore increase the number of girls who play football in England, by 2024.
The College has been chosen to be the football 'hub' school, to deliver and host many of the girls’ football activities in the local area. Game Of Our Own (GOOO) is the name of the new FA and YST initiative that we will be promoting at Ivybridge Community College with our own students recruiting and delivering the football sessions.
Four Year 9 students have been selected to raise the profile of girls’ football at the College, namely Lucy Hack, Tiana Campbell, Chloe Moore and Ellie Sara. The students are all members of the College’s Girls’ Football Academy, the Girls’ National U14 and U15 squads and the successful FUTSAL squad that became National Champions last year. They attended a recent training day to help recruit and deliver football sessions to enable them to deliver all that they have learnt to other students. The girls will be raising the profile of girls’ football, not only in Ivybridge, but also nationwide.
More details to come after the Christmas break regarding when we will be delivering these sessions at the College.
