Diving Success for Students
Ivybridge Community College students impress at Scottish National and Open Diving Championships and the Armada Cup National Diving Competition.
In November, Ivybridge Community College students Zach Anderson, in Year 8, Josh Freeman, in Year 9 and Josh Gibbs, in Year 10 attended the Scottish National and Open Diving Championships in Edinburgh. Zach achieved two Gold medals and a Bronze medal in the Under 13’s. The small elite team sent from Plymouth included Matthew Dixon. Also at the competition were Tom Daley and other Olympic and Commonwealth divers. For further information about this event please click here.
Over the February half term Zach, Josh F, Josh G, Ben Kearton, in Year 7, and Lucy Gutierrez Freeman, in Year 8, competed at the Armada Cup Diving National Competition held in Plymouth. Zach produced some fantastic results in a large group of 29 competitors picking up 4 Gold medals in the1m, 3m, Team and Synchro events with his new dive partner, and a Bronze medal in the Platform event. Also picking up a medal was Josh Freeman in a tough group winning a Bronze medal in the Platform event. For further information about this event please click here.
Zach competed in at the GStar Diving Championships at the John Charles Centre for Sport, in Leeds from 14 – 17 March. He made every final and brought home a Silver medal in the 3 metre event and narrowly missed out on the Gold medal in the 1 metre event by only 1.5 points.
Zach also frequently travels to attend the England Talent Camp in Southend, Essex, over the weekends.
We wish Zach, and all of our diving students, the very best of luck in their forthcoming competitions.
