TeachMeet at Ivybridge Community College
‘Staggering’, ‘Buoyant’, ‘Engaging’ and ‘Buzzing’ - all words used to describe our first open TeachMeet at Ivybridge Community College held on Monday, 21 May.
This fantastic evening of Teacher Continuous Professional Development included twelve speakers, prizes, hospitality, radio microphones, the College Big Band playing, sponsorship by Volkswagen, a Health Spa, Langage Farm, Riverford Organic and Salcombe Gin, to name but a few. Over 220 colleagues attended and there was a great sense of energy and enthusiasm for the range of strategies and pedagogy on offer.
Teach South West trainee, Lizzie Dowling, said of her very first Teacher CPD experience, “I thought it was a great way to network and meet other teachers from different schools. Since I am at the beginning of my teaching journey this event allowed me to get insights into different teacher’s experiences and resources they use in classroom environments. I will definitely be exploring the ideas presented during the evening and look forward to the next TeachMeet event.”
We would like to extend a huge thank you to all our students who supported the evening, from registering delegates to setting up tables and handing out food and drinks, as always they were real ambassadors for the College. We also would also like to thank those who attended, our presenters, our sponsors, the Teaching School Team and the Leadership Team at the College for supporting the highly successful hosting of this event.
