Operation Christmas Child
Key Stage 3 Tutor Groups have once again contributed generously to a collective charity this Christmas.
Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organisation. Every year they deliver shoeboxes filled with simple gifts to children around the world who are affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease. For most of these children it is the only gift they will receive this year. Students from Years 7 and 8 have made huge contributions to this project by joining together as a team in their Tutor Groups to fill boxes of gifts (ranging from essential hygiene items such as a toothbrush or soap, to the more exciting gifts such a cuddly toy to be instantly loved by a child). Many generous students have even prepared individual shoeboxes for the charity or have taken the time to write personal messages to be included in the boxes.
“The kindness and thought that has gone into each shoebox is greatly appreciated and thanks go to all the students who have contributed, you have made an unforgettable gift for seventy-five children at Christmas”, said Mrs Feeney, Assistant Principal.
