Self-Testing Techniques Session a Memorable Success
The Ivybridge Community College Science Department welcomed parents and carers of students in Years 7 and 8 to an evening support session organised by Denise Smith, the College’s Director of Science, and Paul Reynolds, teacher of Biology, to learn more about how our memory works.
The event, held in the Dining Hall on Tuesday, 2 November, was an interactive session, with the adults and children working together to practice the Flashcards and Blind Mind Mapping strategies from the Self-Testing Toolkit.
Denise said, “It’s always such a pleasure to watch adults and children learn together, and the attendance has been fantastic. I really hope this has helped parents and carers to encourage and support the students with their use of the KITE booklets, and to embed what they are learning in lessons into their long term memory.”
