Students Celebrate A Level and Vocational Level 3 Exam Results

Ivybridge Community College is extremely proud of their Sixth Form students today as they receive their A Level and Vocational Level 3 results.

After a challenging year across the country for all students, we could not be more pleased for our students who have shown outstanding resilience and commitment to their studies throughout the pandemic.

We are celebrating fantastic results for all of our students who have secured a wide range of destinations including university and college courses, degree apprenticeships, training schemes and employment; with our highest number in the last 5 years having applied to university this year, with 80% achieving their first choice offer today.  The College also continues to secure a high number of places at Russell Group universities reflecting both the quality of applications and the outcomes from our students.

A third of our entries have achieved A* and A grade passes, with 61% of our students achieving A* - B grades in their courses.  12 students have achieved 3 or more A* or D* (Vocational) grades – the highest possible achievements, with 34 students achieving straight A/A* or D/D* grades.

Two of our highest achieving students have realised their dreams of studying at Oxford and Cambridge, one for Biomedical Sciences and the other for Computer Science, with a further student off to Birmingham to study Medicine.

Overall, these outcomes are a real testament to their hard work and demonstrate the progress all our students have made throughout such challenging times.  Heather Lilley, Deputy Principal, was there to welcome students this morning and said, “I am so proud of all of our students; it’s been an unsettling time for them, but they have never failed to impress me with their maturity, positivity and unfaltering determination to get the best and most they can from their time in the Sixth Form.  I wish all of our students every success in the next exciting chapter of their career.”

On behalf of the College Principal, Rachel Hutchinson, and the Sixth Form Team, we would like to thank all our teaching and support staff who have supported the students throughout their time at the College.
